CCPS School Board Recognition

On Monday, December 5, 2022, Cheryl Goff was recognized at the CCPS School Board meeting for coordinating our community pen pal project. Clayton County community leaders, business owners, retired teachers, and other volunteers write to our students as an anonymous pen pal throughout the school year. The children write back, sharing their lives, concerns and stories. They learn the form for a friendly letter, practice their writing skills, and learn social skills. In May, the project concludes with a pen pal reveal party, hosted by the Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International (honor society for women educators) providing the opportunity for the adult volunteers and students to finally meet in person.
