World Read Aloud Day
February 4, 2021
School-Wide Program with Author Kristin O'Donnell Tubb
Our students had the privilege of a conversation with author Kristin O’Donnell Tubb. Mrs. Tubb shared the importance of reading aloud and then read from two of her books, her chapter book, "Zeus, Dog of Chaos" and her picture book, "Picture Day Heebie Jeebies." She shared her inspiration for writing, her experiences as a young writer, writing tips, why she loves her job as an author and even her pug Myrtle.
The inspiration for her picture book came from a fan, Jaylin and her service dog Kendrys, who thanked her for bringing awareness to childhood diabetes. "Picture Day Heebie Jeebies" is illustrated by Mary Uhles.
Mrs. Tubb states that she starts each book with a post it note containing three things - the main character (1) wants ____ (2), but can't have it because _____ (3). She places this on her computer to guide her as she writes.
Thank you Kristin O’Donnell Tubb for inspiring our scholars and teachers to read and write!
